BWNC will be holding a tracking camp in San Jose, CA. Barbara Adcock has agreed to train us on the fundamentals of AKC regulation tracking, which differs from ABC mantrailing in that your bloodhound will need to stay on the exact trail, and must identify scent articles dropped at the end of the trail, or along the way, depending on the test level. The tracks have to meet certain layout requirements, and there will be no person hiding at the end of the trail.
The tracking camp will take place on Saturday June 4th and Sunday June 5th, 2016. We will meet at Evergreen Valley College, Student Parking Lot 7, located at 3095 Yerba Buena Road, San Jose, CA 95135. We will start at 8 a.m. The college does charge a $3.00 day use fee for the parking lot on Saturday. There is no parking fee on Sunday.
The fee for the camp is $35 per dog for one day, or $50 per dog if you attend both days. We are actively exploring the possibility of hosting a specialty tracking test next year, which will give bloodhounds entry priority over other breeds. We will use all camp proceeds to support a BWNC tracking test.
Be prepared for warm weather. Have water and a cool coat for your dog. We’ll have the club shade tents available if we are out in the open. We will break for a no host lunch about midway.
